Join us this fall for CLD Favorites & First Drafts — a one-night-only performance at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music. This intimate evening brings together repertory works from Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance’s rich history and our latest creative process in motion.

We’ll present an excerpt from Facets (2008), a rigorously structured, sculptural work we’re thrilled to revisit at the request of a certain longtime company member. RU (2014) follows—a bold, rhythmically driven ensemble piece that continues to resonate deeply with both audiences and the dancers who love performing it.

You’ll also experience early material from The Folk Rock Studies — new vignettes in development, set to iconic recordings by Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, and Janis Joplin. These timeless songs evoke emotional terrain that is ripe for choreographic exploration: longing, defiance, beauty, tension. The movement is angular, visceral, and deeply responsive to the pulse and power of these voices.

To complete the program, we’ll share La Mar Emocional (2025), a recent work that premiered earlier this year. Its shimmering lyricism offers a vivid contrast to the grit and drive of The Folk Rock Studies — inviting the audience to consider contrast, progression, and creative evolution in real time.

This performance is not a finished product — it’s an invitation into process. We welcome your presence and perspective as we shape the next chapter of our repertory.
